LoadFont reads a directory of, or PKZIP Archive of, SoftFonts and lets you:
Point and Pick the SoftFonts to Download to the printer.
Build a batch file for downloading the SoftFonts from DOS. This is
useful for downloading often used groups of SoftFonts to the printer.
Create custom SoftModules. A SoftModule is a grouping of SoftFonts
combined into a single file that can be loaded into the printer
without a special download program.
Print sample sheets of selected SoftFonts.
Make a catalog of the Font Descriptors of selected SoftFonts.
Perform all of the above options in one operation
Download individual SoftFonts, print sample sheets of ALL SoftFonts or
make a catalog of ALL SoftFonts from the DOS command line.
COPY LOADFONT.EXE to a directory that is in the PATH that was set in
your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Make your SoftFont directory the default.
LodaFont needs room on the disk for temporary files.

LOADFONT [Enter]
LoadFont displays a listing of the SoftFonts.
The PgUp PgDn and Arrow keys move through the SoftFont listings.
The INS Key is used to select the SoftFont(s). Move the cursor next
to the SoftFont you want to select and press INS.
Assign an ID number between 0 and 32767 then [ENTER].
If the /ID start-up switch is used this step is skipped.

these settings press [ENTER], or change them first. If
you're not sure press [ENTER].
The DEL Key is used to cancel a SoftFont selection.
F10 is used to select the destination for the SoftFonts. You must
first select the SoftFonts as outlined above. Select one
or more destinations, then press G to execute.
If you select the Batch file option, you will be prompted
for the name of the batch file, enter the full PATH.
EXAMPLE: C:\WORD\MYBATCH.BAT
You will then be prompted for the PATH to your SoftFonts.
This will enable the Batch file to find the SoftFonts.
Remember, LOADFONT.EXE must in a PATH set in AUTOEXEC.BAT
when the Batch file is run.
If the /Z=d:\PATH\MYFONT.ZIP start-up switch is used the
PATH on the command line is used and this step is skipped.
If you select SoftModule you will be prompted for the name
of the SoftModule to build. Make sure there is room on your
disk for the file.
EXAMPLE: C:\WORD\CENTUS.MOD
To load a SoftModule into the Printer use the following DOS
command.
COPY /B C:\WORD\CENTUS.MOD PRN
I like to use the Batch option with SoftModule option to
list the fonts and ID#'s for future reference.
F2 will Quit LoadFont and return to DOS.
F5 will clear all selections and return to the start-up settings.
Using LoadFont from the DOS command line.
A SoftFont can be downloaded to the printer from the DOS Command line.
USAGE: LOADFONT fontfile id# [P|T] [P|S]
Example: LOADFONT D:\FONT\MYFONT.USP 10 P S
Downloads the SoftFont D:\FONT\MYFONT.USP to the printer
with an ID number of 10, Permanent and Secondary.
To Print out a sample of each SoftFont in your directory; change to
your SoftFont directory, turn on the printer and type LOADFONT /T
To Make a catalog of the Font Descriptors of all the SoftFonts, change
to your SoftFont directory, and type LOADFONT /D
The file DESCRIPT.DAT will contain the descriptor report.
The /Z=d:\PATH\MYFONT.ZIP start-up switch makes LoadFont read the
SoftFonts from the archive MYFONTS.ZIP. Use the full PATH name.
The file PKUNZIP.EXE must be in a PATH set with the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
The /ID switch has LoadFont provide ID numbers for SoftFonts.
/P=LPTn: or /P=COMn: sets the printer port. Replace n with the port
number. /P=LPT1: is the default.
Using SoftFonts
Read your Wordprocessor manual on using SoftFonts. Each has its own
method. Or
To select among the SoftFonts that you downloaded include the
following Escape sequence in your document ESC(#X where # is the ID
number assigned to the font. The ESC character (not the ESC key) can
be generated by holding down the ALT key while typing in 27 using the
numeric key pad. If your word processor won't allow you to do this
try CTRL [ or consult your manual.
The SoftFonts in this package can be identified as follows:
First six characters Font Name
Seventh character R = Regular I = Italic G = Ghost
S = Shadow H =Hollow
